Dr. Melvin BlasballDr. Melvin Blasball
    “Our Uncle Mel”, Coventry’s first eye doctor founded Coventry Eye Care Associates and Optical Center in 1964.  His love of vision and caring personality put smiles on many faces.  Dr. Mel graduated from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry and the University of Rhode Island and was quite active in charitable organizations such as Coventry-West Greenwich Lions, Elks and Vision USA.  Since his retirement in 1987 he has entrusted his nephews, Dr. Richard Liner and Dr. Thomas Liner, in carrying  on the tradition of excellence at the original location, next to the Shell Station.

    In 1985 “Dr. Mel’s Nephew” joined Coventry Eye Care Associates and Optical Center, maintaining his uncle’s warmth and sense of humor.  Dr. Rick’s special interests include: comprehensive family eye care, anterior eye disease and treatment, glaucoma diagnostics and treatment, refractive surgery co-management and custom contact lens services.  After graduating from The University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and a love of visual science, he enrolled at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received his Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1985.  Dr. Rick is an active member of The Rhode Island Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.


Dr. Thomas LinerDr. Thomas Liner
    Dr. Tom, Dr. Rick’s brother, came to the practice in 1990 bringing his friendly, warm and caring “chairside manner”.  His special interests include: dry eye disease treatment, children’s vision care, comprehensive eye health and vision examinations, therapeutic treatment of anterior segment disease, contact lens services, pre and post-operative co-management of refractive and cataract surgery. 
    Dr. Tom graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1986 with a B.S. degree, majoring in psychology.  He received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1990 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  Dr. Tom is an active member of the Rhode Island Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

 

Dr. Amy FalkDr. Amy Falk
    We are proud to announce that in 2006 Dr. Amy joined the team at Coventry Eye Care Associates. She has been a great contributor to patient care.  Her special interests include geriatrics and ocular disease.  However, her warm personality and gentle exam techniques have made her a great asset in pediatric care as well.  Dr. Amy is also interested in treatment of dry eye syndrome and custom contact lens fitting.
    She received her bachelor’s degree in 1999 from The College of the Holy Cross and her doctorate in 2004 from The New England College of Optometry.  Throughout her education at The New England College of Optometry, Dr. Amy received several distinctions including the Beider Scholarship for brilliant students, membership in Beta Sigma Kappa academic honor society and clinical honors for excellence in patient care. 
    In 2005, she completed an Optometric residency in primary care at the V.A. Brockton where she specialized in geriatric eye care and disease.
    Dr. Amy is a member of the Rhode Island Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

    Since 1975, Optician Roland has been part of our family serving Coventry and surrounding communities by fabricating the finest in prescription eyewear.  A licensed, registered optician with over 35 years of experience, he is invaluable in giving every patient the confidence they need in selecting new eyeglasses to meet their lifestyle requirements.  Roland is always eager to educate patients about the many new options now available.  His experience and reputation is second to none.  He invites you to stop by anytime to see the latest in fashion frames, value eyewear packages, lens options, or just talk about GOLF.  It is his pleasure to serve you.

 

Paula Fournier & Kristen CoreyPaula Fournier & Kristen Corey
make up our management team at Coventry Eye Care Association and Optical Center.  As certified para-Optometrics  they are a vital part of patient care and support the doctors with continuous training of the entire staff.  They assist our Optometrists in a variety of testing and clinical procedures.
    Not only do they assist in patient care, they are also available for any questions or inquiries regarding scheduling, optical or patient relations.  Their knowledge and expertise aid in making every patient’s experience an enjoyable one.
